Registration is Open for Furry 5K, Benefiting the Seattle Animal Shelter

On Sunday, June 14, over 1,000 community members and their pets will gather in Seward Park to join the Seattle Animal Shelter for the 27th Annual Furry 5K Fun Run & Walk. Pet lovers, community members, and some of the cutest dogs in the city will come together to support Seattle’s only open admission animal shelter.

The Furry 5K, presented by Timberline Veterinary Emergency and Specialty, directly supports the Seattle Animal Shelter’s work to provide critical programs and services to Seattle pets and their owners. That includes providing high-quality, compassionate care to more than 2,000 animals throughout Seattle.

This year’s event has a fundraising goal of $125,000 and every registration goes toward helping an animal in need. The event will also include Paws in the Park, a post-race celebration that includes a pet costume contest, awards, entertainment, vendors and more.

“I’m so excited to lace up and join fellow Seattleites out on the trail for the Furry 5K. This community event strengthens the safety net Seattle pets and their families depend on and supports the Seattle Animal Shelter in its critical work of providing care for every animal—every time,” said Mayor Katie B. Wilson. “Every registration helps provide a second chance for an animal, so I encourage everyone to sign up and join us.”

“The Furry 5K has been a Seattle tradition for 27 years now, and the proceeds from it make a difference in the way we’re able to show up for and support Seattle pets and their families,” said Ashley Harrington, Director of the Seattle Animal Shelter. “We’re so grateful for the care, compassion, and generosity of every person participating.”
